The abbey

Six kilometres far from the castle there is the abbey of Passignano, the most famous religious building of the whole Chianti.

It was first built during the Longobardic domination, in the VIII° century.

The abbey is bound to St. Giovan Gualberto, a monk who hardly fought the corruption of the church and founded the monastic order called "Vallombrosani".
